Did you take not of any difference of internals? Ie, the one that dropped on the spot, did that take shoulder bone in or out with it? Same with the one that ran, any bone? I feel thats the monolithic bullet downfall, requires something solid to open the petals up . Perhaps the original tsx with the hollow point would work better as it should have more surface area to expand early on?

I don’t gut the animals, the one one that dropped on the spot was a side on shoulder shot so probably broke something. The one that one did not break any bones.

I have used the 110grain ttsx in 308 quite a bit as I like the lessened recoil. Providing you have time and the angles to break shoulders they work very well in my experience. However, you don’t always have time or the ideal angles when hunting in the bush and there are definitely far more forgiving choices in those situations. I have had two very disappointing results with them. Both animals were shot at very close range so nice high impact velocity and yet despite good hits they required very long tracking jobs (many hours). One went nearly 100 meters in thick bush and there was no blood until the last 25meters. I probably would have given up and called it a miss if it wasn’t for a big clump of lung tissue on the ground where the deer had been standing.

I've tried the 140 TTSX in my 7mm08 and at the time the only two animals that had ever got away from that gun were with them. Also, the 140gr is quite a long bullet and the loads were compressed. I gave the idea away and continued with 140 gr NBT which disintegrate and perform very well with about 90% one shot kills (excepting steel targets).
