    7mm08 Nosler Ballistic Tip 120gr

Anybody shooting 120gr Nosler BTs out of a 7mm08 ?

Trying to work up a mid range gong load.

    It's for a 22inch 1:9.5 sporter barrel.

I'd like to pick your brain and compare notes...

Considered 162gr Amax, but these seem to be unobtanium+++, and also not convinced how stable 160gr or heavier projectiles will be in my barrel.

Yea I have used these for a number of years now in mine and my son's 7mm/08 for hunting, they shoot so well time and time again.
Mine are doing 3050fps with 22" barrel

If its only for gongs have you thought about smk's? They're cheaper then the nos bt's. Never used them in 7mm but in the 6.5 and 308/300wsm they shoot really good. Could be worth a thought

Yup, but I suspect getting hold of the lighter (130 or 150) 7mm SMKs in NZ will be pretty hard. If it was a 7mmRemMag I'd seriously look at 168/175/180 SMK

I should have added the amaxes stabilise fine in 9.5 twist 18" barrel 708. The bts have performed well for me on game and targets, one load for both means animals will be in trouble...

I’ve used the Nosler and Sierra 120grn, and the 130 grn Speer.
The Speer is unusual as it can be used at charges and velocity similar to the 120’s.
    PM me if you want.
