Accurate varmint projectiles for AR15 ?

What's giving you the best results folks ? I've tried sierra 53gr, hornady 55gr SP's, 69gr targex and 60gr Vmax, but none have been particularly consistent. I'm using 1-7 twist in 16 and 18in barrels. If you have a awesome pet load, I'd love to hear about it

    Cheers, Red

Give the Serria 65gr SP a try.

Goes bloody good in my AR with a 16" 1 in 7 twist barrel

If you want to try mine, just pay me a few bucks for shipping and I happily Will send you 20 or so. I will have for the next week more 69 HPBT, but now just a few 52 HP and BT. My carbide dies have been relapped to get them at .2241 final size.
Drop me a private msg if you are interested. Usually, these 52 run at $39 shipped for 100.
    Cheers

Definitely try heavier projectiles ie 62 grain + for 1:7 twist.

Maybe your barrels just arnt shooters. ARs are not the best varmint guns anyways.
Im new to AR15 shooting so take my advice for what its worth. When i bought mine i got a swag of American Eagle 50gr V Max and it shot 1/2" @ 100yds. Then reloaded with the heavyest Nolser B Tip, 60gr. ADI case, CCI SR primer and 23.5gr AR2219. They also shoot 1/2" groups

"Maybe your barrels just arnt shooters." Could be, I have a std stag model4 which has a standard 4140 grade barrel in it and not a varmint grade one, hence 3/4~1 MOA is about it I suspect. What I have found so for is my 1 in 9 twist likes 77gr HPBT boxed ammo doing 1MOA or better and 55gr suck (2moa) unless I hand load in which case I seem to be around 1 MOA. Also a 1 in 7 is very fast for a varmint projectile, so Ive seen comments that the 1 in 7 can overspin varmint bullets causing them to disintegrate at about 75yds.

I've been using Nosler Shots SP 55g, 25g BM2 powder, and CCI 400 primers.
Knocked over everything so far. Accurate as well.
Used the Hornady pills as well but the Nosler's gave better groupings in my rifle. Remington R15 18" barrel 1:9 twist.
Have yet to load up some heavier pills to use.

Tried some Nosler Varmageddon's as well. 55gr ballistic tipped. Very accurate, and explosive on soft fluffy things. My favourites. I always keep some ready for those special moments.

1 in 9 is usually fine for everything up to about 75gr. Not an AR but my Savage is 1:9 and currently using Hornady 53 Vmax and 68bthp with good results.

Try 20 everything you can find. My 1 in 9 Stag likes boxed ammo in the 69~77grain range which are expensive but does 1moa or better. No boxed 55gr I have tried shoots well (2moa or worse) but 55gr CMJs and 62gr ADI FMJs on light loads so significantly better at around 1 moa.

Varmint projectile? How come?It is our go to hunting pill in the 223. No frangibility in that pill. It tags and does a mean job of stopping big heavy wet red stags. Super accurate. You can hear that "whack" every time it hits. Awesome.
