Thread: Alternative 308win powder

I have heard of guys getting very quick speeds with power pro 2000 in the 08. up to 3000 fps with 150s in hunting length barrels. Well worth looking into if you can access supply.

Cfe 223 is another good powder for heavier 308. Belmont 748 would be My pick as its good and cheeap

Another option, and its available (I checked Steve's Wholesale web site) is BLC-2. A double based powder that chucks 'em out at a good speed. A good powder for .222, .223 and 7-08 too. Seems to work very similar to CFE223.

I've just started with RE15. I've literally only just started but have had some very good ES results with 155gr pills. Not so with 168gr or 175gr though.

As already mentioned VV N140 is an excellent powder although my experience is only with 155 SMKs in my 308. Also had great results with the same projectile with IMR3031.

It works well with 150gr bullets as well.

IMR4064 or Reloder 15 if you want something with a similar burn to 2208.
