I did a batch of mine after the necks started to get noticeable harder to size with the collett die. Nothing fancy, just the old mans method with a gas torch. Use a darkened room for the color change and hold it in your bare hands to make sure it doesn't get too hot then drop it in a bucket of water. I overannealed a couple of junk cases first to get a feel for what the right amount of heat was. Annealing is no more obsessive compulsive than anything else we do in sport of reloading and accurate shooting.

Annealing brass is a pretty basic task ...... no need to over think the process.

Try this method and you'll find it'll work fine for you.

Cheers i was looking for that. I might have a go tonight with some super hard Frontier (Hornady) cases that i was thinking of turning into 'minute of deer' rounds. Hopefully it will improve consistency and accuracy but if it doesn't mess it up too much i won't complain.

    Advice?

Just annealed a few Lapua cases(6.5x55).

Since annealing I notice they are "sticky" on the upstroke in my press.

    Any ideas why?

Did you clean up the cases after you annealed them?
eg wire wool on neck and broze brush in side neck? Ive noticed that cases get kinda rough in some areas after annealing.
Maybe a tumble after may help.

Yea I just noticed the problem goes away if I run a neck brush with lube on it right the way into the case. Strange.
