You guys should try Hodgdon Superformance it works well in my .260AI

Good point, but when I got the reamer cut I owned a Sako M591 medium action and was going to be limited on OAL with that gun. However it went down the road and I ended up with a Tikka for the project. The Tikka is lighter, stainless and has a few more bits available than the old Sako.
I ran superformance in my .260 ackley lapua brass 22 inch hardy barrel hornady 143's and 2950 fps it's definitely worth a go
Done a bit more shooting over the weekend after getting the throat of the 260Imp lengthened by about 4.5mm to make use of the Tikka long action etc.
Found that I needed another 0.5gr RL17 to reach the same velocities I had with the short throat. Nice to seat the 143gr ELD-X level with the base of the neck. Being a typical velocity hound, I wound it up to see what I could ring out of the 24.5" barrel and achieved a highest reading of 3025fps, though the average of the 5 shots was 3009fps. Pressure was way too high to use this as a go to load, the cases were getting slammed big time. Accuracy was excellent even at that speed with the 5 shots grouping around 1/2 moa. I will go back a grain (2940fps) and work around that. I think that will be a lot safer for the summer temps coming up.
Here's a pix of the group. Patched holes are just me dicking with scope after the group to get the right zero.
Bugger, the pix has loaded flopped on its side![]()
Interesting article I read a while ago about the newish RL26 & 260 Imp.
260 Terminator: Initial Review – Panhandle Precision
I see there was a spin off of this same one in the NZ Hunter mag.
Don't forget Shawns 260 Terminator (yep they stole my name) has a +P throat that increases velocity over a standard throat
