I would compare a 50grn ttsx to a mild .308---270 cup n core terminally but damage is different and still has to be put in right place. Find a more mild 308 load.and as counterintuitive as this sounds.the Winchester 180grn PowerPoint load has LESS felt recoil than the 150s

I'm picking your set load will be on the hot/fast end of scale. Ppu/Highland will be on lower end.

I think my 308 rounds are fairly safe. 42gr of 2206h.
I found that could hold the scope stiller on the 223 while standing and looking through the scope. I figure that that was due to a lighter barrel.
Both guns are a similar weight i imagine as the 223 is timber and the 308 is plastic.
If the terminal balistics is similar on the 223, I'd probably prefer that to shoot even though it doesnt feed as well and isnt quiet to cycle.

your 308 will always beat .223 terminally but a good 223 load will do the job....
something funny going on if your mild loaded .308 is knocking you around.....look at your form..how you are holding rifle. what your using should be perfectly managable.

A 110-130 308 projectile is the way forward, the lighter it is the less recoil there is, regardless of velocity
My 6.8 SPC with 110s had way more terminal performance than a 223 with 55s probably well over twice as much going on how the game reacted, dead right there rather than requiring another shot
A 110 out of a 308 will be even more emphatic
This is talking inside 200-250 yards
