I respect your beliefs but don't impose them on me.
Not one of those RCBS micro bullet headspace thingamabobs that pop up on Trade me for 308 and 223?

Hi @johnd nar but I think I'll think I'll get one with a micrometer on top.
I've had a pretty good look through and just can't find it. If I do you all be the first to know

is it 21st century shootig?
Probably nothing to do with seating and its that deburrer/chamfer length trimmer gadget.
Ok so I'll try to explain it.
New brass neck sized. Trimmed.
Happy with both and both came out how I wanted. Measurements all good.
Primed happy again.
Trailboss powder. All good.
Putting the pill in and reread the institutions two hundred times and still
Here's what I do.
Seat bullet come down 1/4 rotate cartridge 1/2 turn then down another 1/4 rotate etc.
But when I get to full seating death I'm getting loads of different over all cartridge lengths.
Have pulled a few and done it again from the start.
Have measured from the shoulder with Hornady tool and that all comes up spot on.
But once I messure from the tip to the base I get also sorts of measurements. I've read the instructions set the seating tool and thought that the bullets should all then seat to the same depth in the cartridge.
So I'm kind of stuck. Sorry don't have my note book at hand so can't give you all the numbers.
But I saw the above tool and though let's try that. Stupid maybe.
Anybody here had the same issue? I'm going to sleep on it now so I'll see ya answers in the morning.

Larrywillis ? He makes the collet die for magnum cases.
Your problems are not unusual. It comes from variation in the projectiles. One way to get around it is to get a micrometer seating stem and the "thingy" for measuring to the ogive on the projectile.
Seat the projectile so it is nearly right. Measure with the ogive tool and work out how many thou more it needs to go in, adjust seating stem, re-seat, re-measure. I have had pretty good results using hornady dies and the hornady micrometer stem. Forster and Redding make very good micrometer seating dies.
Don't worry about base to tip measurements. Base to ogive is more important as it is the ogive that engages with the rifling.
Thanks guys!
Yes @Gibo I've just got one.
Must be a bit of a trap this. Either that our I'm just had a bubbler bump moment

Yep bullet tips can be a little inconsistent ogive is much better consistency wize
Messure from the tip is fine just be aware that there will be a few thousands Variation between coal but that Variation is just the tip
The ogives will be exactly the same
