    Cci standard Vel 40g

While waiting for the barrel to cool on another rifle I had a play with this stuff over the labradar.

I was impressed with how consistent it was in both my marlin 60 and Ruger pistol.
Shoots great in both as well.

    Rifle

    Pistol

I heard from one of the dudes at the importers that the US Olympic shooting team use it as their practise ammo it shoots almost as well
as the expensive match ammo in my rifle and pistol as well can't fault it.

It shoots good in my rifle.
I could actually see them going into the target thru the scope at 50m

My Cz 452 loves it, like 1 ragged hole 10 shot groups at 50m loves it!

Shot a few 100 point F class targets in the Deerstalkers rimfire shoots.

Pity it doesn’t kill magpies so well.

Great stuff and it's priced reasonably.

I use it and it kills as good as anything else with the usual shot placement

I bought 2000 winchester m22 and have been impressed with its accuracy and consistency not to mention price. Like northdude said a rn solid kills as well as a hp. This is my go to for flappers in the dams at the moment.

Shoots well in my .22LR AR15 as well. Good enough for 100m service rifle shoots against centrefires.
As long as the wind plays fair!

Hmmm, wonder why soft point and hp ammo is made then?

Had heaps of magpies with central chest hits fly off and fold over the paddock.

With CCI hp Subs they go down on the spot.

    Great for targets though.

I haven't shot anything other than paper with mine. Always use subs for rabbits and such.
It is pretty slow compared to other stuff out there so could be a reason it doesn't always kill well. You would think a 40grn solid should kill alright.

It will kill if you hit stuff in the right place its a lesson you learn if youve started your hunting path with air rifles

No doubt, but not as efficiently.

    Lot smaller permanent would channel.
    animals die more slowly.
Therefore do not kill as well.

I found with them it’s even difficult to hear the hit as they are just zipping through, a few times I have though “how did I miss that?” only to have it fold mid air or a bunny die mid stride.
Whereas with the HP you can definitely hear the thwack of the bullet hitting flesh.

I am not saying they don’t kill if placed correctly, but not as efficiently as the hp.

I am pretty sure that a well placed shot from one would kill a deer too, doesn’t mean it’s as efficient at killing it as something better suited to the task.

Thanks for the lesson though, never shot anything with an air rifle

I rember the winnie aust dynapoint ammo, tiny little indentation in the nose of what looked like a solid, they seemed to do the business. You could make a die to do the same thing i suppose.
