Chronographs what do you use ?

Just wondering which model, make of chronographs guys are using.

Do you notice velocity swings with it ?

I had a Shooting Chrony & have used several different ones & they seemed to be very inconsistant.

It's still funny up the range with the Chrony & guys ask what it is/does

F1 Shooting Chrony. Get velocity swings but mainly due to having it too close to the muzzle blast. Usually reference it to 22lr match ammo during a test session.

I normally manage to nab a friends Oehler when testing. The readings seem consistent but sometimes it hates sunny days even with sunscreens on & refuses to read.

Shooting crony. Its a rough indication If im using it Il put a couple over it of a load that has been over your Ohler Greg then if they are say 100fps fast readings on the day Il subtract that from the readings of the load im playing with.
Depending on the day it can vary from almost right to 140fps fast.

Would be interesting to put the same load over a few ohlers on the same day and see how much difference there actually is between them.

I have a Shooting Chrony somewhere.. its become a bit of a whore and everyones had a go with it (some have even shot it.. twice)- dunno where it is at the moment LOL
I've found its 30fps faster that CED2, and not sure about the Oehler as it was a piece of shit and never worked properly regardless of having new sensors, leads, brain etc

Its consistent and does the job for that I use it for

    -Shooting Chrony.

Originally tried using its' readings as accurate: punched them into the ballistics program, and away I went shooting...... ...learnt from that pretty quick beyond 300 yds

-so now I just use it as a guide, to get me onto an A3 piece of paper at 400 yds, and then start validating at different ranges from there.

......I also have a cardboard fridge box that I use at 800 yds...it leaves plenty of room for the chrony to screw up. (as naturally it couldn't possibly be my fault).

I actually like the CED2 - Ive used our local clubs one & it is nice & simple to set up compared to the Oehler, reads about the same & have never had it not read unlike the occasional time with the oehler.

F1 Shooting Chrony also - I get the odd reading now and then but otherwise OK
Being over gunned is under rated.

Cant dissagree with CED 2 if you want something to give reliable numbers at a good price, though my mate borrowed mine a while ago and couldnt get a reading out of it I had to put IR screens on mine to get rid of the inconsistantcies with light change but its pretty good now, have used it right up till dark.
