    Depriming 17h cases.

As my 17 hornet is in timaru and I needed to take the primers out, or at least desensitise them I came up with a plan. Drilled out some mild steel to just fit the case and with a file end proceeded to fire the primers, bloody loud, far louder than I would of thought. On with the earmuffs to finish the job, plus a mask as they stink bad..

I've got a collection of display rounds that still have primers, guess I won't be doing that.

yo uhave a .22 hornet or 22 K hornet at hand do you not???? use that the primer going off wont resize the case, the rim will hold it enough to fire off primer.

I've done them in the vice with earmuffs on and a center punch. They actually need a half decent hit to make the go off from my experience.

    On the money there.
The chamber on the 22 hornet is different to a 17 hornet micky.

Probably won't - from my experience of the 17H the neck and shoulder are completely different. The 22H tapers down gently from a little over half way to the correct neck size, the 17H has a normal shoulder that is wider at the shoulder behind the taper than the 22H. If it was a .22K hornet you might get away with it?
