ya boring bastards de prime them with a lee loader
I seem to remember Pistol Primers are thinner in the cap & slightly less in depth but I think in a pinch Magnum Pistol primers could be used, don't quote me on that ?
I would de prime myself .
At least you did prime them. I once filled 50 cases with powder before realising I hadn’t primed the cases.
I would just put it down to Covid-19, everything else that seems to be happening is.
GUN CONTROL IS A TIGHT 5-SHOT GROUP.
What brand are they?
As you now know pistol primers are shorter, so if they are fully seated ...... depending on the firing pin they may not ignite.
I have used Winchester large pistol primers behind full loads in 308 ....( read 50 grains W760 under 155's ) no problems, they do tend to back out to the end of the case face.
But that is the only difference between LR and LP I have seen, its in a beefy Banard action though.
I wouldnt encourage others to do it, but I have no problem with it.
No, I didn't know that.....Just another of the many "Dunnos" in my life. :>)
They are CCi brand and tomorrow, out of curiousity I will load and fire one, (just a primed case) in the rifle to see what happens. i.e if it fires and/ or if it punctures.
Still tending to think that the labour involved in removing and replacing them using a bench press neck sizer/ deprimer combo is worth it to get a reliable trouble free 308 BANG.
Might even be able to reuse them in the BP long arms....:>)
.
It will fire ok and look normal it's the pressure in the case in a full noise rifle load compared to a pistol that will probably make them blow a gasket
