I’ve been having really good results with .395 hornady round balls x 3 put through an open choke or Enfield .410 “musket”. Am using a cork wad and powder weight based on the total weight of the balls.
Surprisingly accurate out to 100.

Greetings all,
Sounds like all this pondering may lead back to a .44 Magnum break open rifle firing a .43 dia 120 grain round ball,
GPM.
no because its opposite to above....heavy and uber expensive LOL
75/15/10 black powder matters
so is that 3 balls in a 3" ??? so try 2 balls in 2 1/2" with same charge weight of powder for slight increase in velocity LOL.
Ive heard of folks using a .357 projectile in the wee .410 too...

A bit more bang is better.

Sounds to me the Lee .401 wad cutter would do provided it's doing 1250fps, no problem for a bailed pig.
Same goes for the .375 RB

Greetings All,
Back in the 1960's a .410 shotgun appeared on the market. It had a 12' barrel and a pistol grip and was legal as a shotgun at the time. As it was a shotgun it did not need to be registered like our rifles needed to be. I briefly considered buying one at the price of $15.00 but dithered. Those sufficiently long in the tooth will remember these as Kea guns. A friend bought one and fired slugs at a steel plate around 2 to 3mm thick which it penetrated quite well. Shortly after that someone used one as a pistol so they were bought back by the Government and the law changed to require all firearms to be 30" long minimum. I think there was some exemption for pistol clubs.
Getting back to @Micky Duck quest for a light and low cost bail gun the cheapest option may be slug loads in the .410. Finding data and components could be tricky but not impossible. The working pressure for shotguns is very low and reliable load data for other options is non existent.
I can easily get solids for .410. But they are sucky...87 grns soft lead at 1500 fps...many folks used them and curse them.buckshot better option. It's no biggie, just seeing if there was a single projectile option ...may not ever have a use.ive got some 444m cases coming to try....

I'm also in unique situation of having an overboard 410. Same diameter from chamber to muzzle...gives options not available to normal .410 users
