I’ve been having really good results with .395 hornady round balls x 3 put through an open choke or Enfield .410 “musket”. Am using a cork wad and powder weight based on the total weight of the balls.

    Surprisingly accurate out to 100.

Why not a simple "light load". Im sure you know AR2206 can be loaded as low as 60% of max listed load.
Other powders such as AR2208 75% of max listed load.
Combined with a light to medium weight bullet for the calibre should do the job.
cause generally .410 single shot guns are lighter than a light thing to carry, and not uber expensive to get.
    75/15/10 black powder matters

    Greetings all,
Sounds like all this pondering may lead back to a .44 Magnum break open rifle firing a .43 dia 120 grain round ball,
    GPM.

...and it doesn't put 3 hold in a target like the .410 with roundballs...

so is that 3 balls in a 3" ??? so try 2 balls in 2 1/2" with same charge weight of powder for slight increase in velocity LOL.
Ive heard of folks using a .357 projectile in the wee .410 too...

OK, I did wonder if it was Weight related. Fair enough.

Sounds to me the Lee .401 wad cutter would do provided it's doing 1250fps, no problem for a bailed pig.

Same goes for the .375 RB

    Greetings All,
Back in the 1960's a .410 shotgun appeared on the market. It had a 12' barrel and a pistol grip and was legal as a shotgun at the time. As it was a shotgun it did not need to be registered like our rifles needed to be. I briefly considered buying one at the price of $15.00 but dithered. Those sufficiently long in the tooth will remember these as Kea guns. A friend bought one and fired slugs at a steel plate around 2 to 3mm thick which it penetrated quite well. Shortly after that someone used one as a pistol so they were bought back by the Government and the law changed to require all firearms to be 30" long minimum. I think there was some exemption for pistol clubs.
Getting back to @Micky Duck quest for a light and low cost bail gun the cheapest option may be slug loads in the .410. Finding data and components could be tricky but not impossible. The working pressure for shotguns is very low and reliable load data for other options is non existent.

I can easily get solids for .410. But they are sucky...87 grns soft lead at 1500 fps...many folks used them and curse them.buckshot better option. It's no biggie, just seeing if there was a single projectile option ...may not ever have a use.ive got some 444m cases coming to try....

I'm also in unique situation of having an overboard 410. Same diameter from chamber to muzzle...gives options not available to normal .410 users

41 Magnum 200 grain cast lead wadcutters or semi wad cutters perhaps? The cylinder shape might help at least starting them straight

Yes that’s right….its wingman’s fault…. He led me down the rabbit hole. Using full brass cases now .444 and 9.3x74……and blown out .303 in the musket.
