My gut tells me it has a lot to do with marketing.
If they are heaps dearer than the Amax then they have achieved what they intended.

Ya gotta ask who released the info of the tips melting.
Who will profit from improving something that works as well as anyone will be able to shoot at LR.
The Amax works even if the tip does melt😆

But in saying that I have ordered some to try.

At longer ranges.....this one may work better up close and still be good at longer ranges hopfully.

apparently not, totally different jacket with thicker copper in the bearing surface and base with an interloc ring to help it hold together up close.

Had to change the seating depth from old a-max, further out by .05, shot in the same point of aim.
Five round group old a-max chronographed at 3022fps SD 16 / ELD-X 5 round 3077fps SD 14 both groups very similar round 18mm
Quite surprised at the velocity increase with the same powder charge 50fps
