Thread: eldm load

I have a 300 Win Mag Rem 700 in a Bergara HMR stock, 22” barrel hardy mag suppressor.
I was going to try 225gr eldm and 2225 powder.
Mainly for red deer
Does anyone have start load recommendations for this? any suggestions or opinions if this is a good combination?

short barrel.. I know.. I wish I left it at 24”.

Can’t help with your mix, but I run 208 ELD-M in mine with 77.6 grains of 2217 (H1000), Federal GMM215 at 3.5” OAL for 2984 fps average in a 26” barrel. ADI 2217 is temp stable and a reliable, well proven powder for .300 Win Mag

………and the 208s hit really hard.

Start about 73gns. Off memory I stopped about 75.5gns when I had a 24" bergara. I didn't hit max, but probably wasn't far off it going by speed. Guessing you'd get around 2750/2800fps? Using a Hornady comparator and their modified case. 30 thou jump worked well, like I've found with most eldms/X's.
