Thread: Factory ammo for 308

So I'm picking up my first 308 this week and wondering what ammo to use for it?
Can anyone recommend a factory ammo to use on Deer and goats? Its a Bergara B14 and I can't foresee myself shoot past 300 mtrs anytime soon.
Soft point, Hollow Point, Polymer tip? and how many Grains?
Its been fun learning about all of this but getting tiring on the amount of information too.

I use SnB 150gr sort point.
In a Bruno zkk601. Hits 8" gongs with aperature sights at 250m easily. Not sure what the group size is though.

Sounds like you are going to be loading your own soon enough.

Whatever 150gn or 165gn that shoots accurately in your rifle. Unfortunately might have to try couple of brands to find out. Federal, hornady, Belmont & Remington are good starting points. All will do +300m easy if accuracy is there.

My advice, Start at the cheaper end of spectrum and work up, my tikka really likes the hornady superperformance last time I got a box of hornady whitetail and it did just as well, both 150gr
