Hmmm, 6x47 sounds interesting and I already have spare 6.5x47 brass.

What kind of hunting are you doing? Unless you’re bombing up goats with long strings of fire, shouldn’t it be sweet for years if just knocking over a few deer here and there?

6GT is probably your best bet with a 308 bolt face if you can find a short enough bullet to come under 2.4".

The BRs and Dasher class cartridge aren't going to get you 3000fps from a short barrel.

A GT will easily do 3,000fps with a 105gr class projectile, loaded at normal length. But at 2.4” COAL, the boat tail will be well below at case neck shoulder junction, so a 95gr might be easier to make work.

Whichever projectile you use, your jump would be massive. I run 105gr Bergers and Targex at 2.580” COAL, about 30-50 thou jump with a 0.120” freebore chamber.

Photo below Targex loaded to 2.580” as comparison with a Berger 95gr VLD Hunting (boat tail about case neck shoulder junction) and then a Targex 105gr RBBT at 2.4”.

I think your length restriction makes that goal pretty difficult.

I have a 6xc which is a touch shorter than your Creedmoor was. 105's are still 2.7" when seated out properly. 3k in a 22" is about its limit and it should be good for 2-3k rounds of hunting use.

The 6mm-204 Ruger I've been shooting is also about 2.6" with heavies. Great barrel life. But it won't deliver anything close to 3000fps. Kinda rules out 6x45 too.

The BR's, GT's and Dashers will be a bit long and won't give you 3k in a short barrel either. Guys with 28" barrels on a couple of the YouTube channels I watch seem to be pushing that 105gr class up to around 2800-2900".

I can't remember how long a 243 WSSM is. It would probably give 3k in a short barrel but barrel life will not be great. Wrong bolt face. And crappy brass options.

Yeah mate. Asking a bit much there.
