    IMR 4166 for 308

    Hello all,
Im looking into IMR 4166 for the 308 as I can readily get this.. Im struggling to find load data for this powder. Hodgdon site has limited data, and I can't find any other data. Is this because the powder is relatively new? Who has used this and what were the results like. Will be shooting 150 grain btsp. Thanks in advance.

    Greetings Plodalong,
IMR4166 seems to be similar to Varget and IMR4064, perhaps a little slower. Also just a little faster than AR2206H/ H4895. I've used all these powders in the .308W with excellent results and IMR4166 should be at least as good. I've found the Hodgdon data to be excellent so it it probably all that you need. You have to really try hard to find a bad load for the .308W,
    Regards Grandpmac.

Yes, loads for IMR4166 look to be similar, but a little lower, than Varget/AR2208. A guy posted some loads with identical charges of 4166 and Varget (42.4 to 44.2gr of each), the 4166 had slightly higher velocities.
