    Info needed .455 Webley

So my youngest son has a problem
    He loves these bloody things
He’s got about 4-5 of them
Keeps buying them, when personally I think the previous owners should pay him to take them off their hands
I think they make a rock and a cold chisel look high tech
    Whatever
He has cases, primers, projectiles, dies.
And as Trailboss is on par with unicorn poo, what is the collective’s suggestion for powder ?
TBH, I doubt he’s going to fire more than 40-50 rounds in a year.
And I suspect the mug doing the loads will be yours truely.
    Grump session over

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !

Nobel lists pistol powder No 2 start load 4.9 555fps max 5.4 630fps it is similar to AP70 Bullet is 265 grain cast lead
Any of the fast shot gun powders will work 700X Red Dot AS30 , Trail Boss is too bulky you won't good velocity.

I think some Webleys were converted to fire 45 ACP, some wartime thing.
OMG, I’ve been listening to dissertations on the history of the worse firearm on the planet.
The cylinder got shaved, or something.
Sorry, if we stop talking about them, will they all disappear

If you do a search there are a couple of posts on loading and powders for the “wobbly ” here already and some data.
I’ve had best results with bullseye and one end and blue dot at the other end of the burning scale.
    Best of luck

I know that some of the Classic Pistol shooters have used .45 ACP in the later Webley's not recommend ,
.455 Weblry cases can ge sized in .45 Colt die; expanding and seating could be done in .45 ACPdies not that I have tried

I was going to try 700X and WAP - because thats what ive got and a small dose of fast burning powder looks like the go for these. I havent started yet because ive still got a couple hundred rounds of Fioochi to get through first.

Youre right ... i never liked the way they looked until i had one, and now i view them as some kind of steam punk thing. They also sound disappointing - a flat wussy sounding whap sound, meanwhile the 9's and 45's making a decent boom beside me. I think the powder is long burnt and the pressure dropped so much by the time the lazy ol slow moving bullet tumbles out of the barrel theres no pressure left to make a decent bang. im considering getting another.

I have the number of a good therapist around some where
I suspect you’re right, pretty sure the projectiles barely stagger out of the barrel
Still, junior likes them, so they can’t be all bad.
