    LabRadar Doppler Radar Chronograph

Hi I had the pleasure of being able to use one of these in the weekend.
I was completely impressed with bit of kit. It removed all doubt and wasted time i have spent with chronys and guess work over the last 30 years.
If you get the chance to test your loads beside one of these you will be blown away.
I think $1500.00 worth every cent to a keen reloader.
    Stay off the ridgeline.
The only good assumption is to assume that movement, shape, colour, sound, is always human. Follow this rule and identify your target.

Your probably preaching to the choir for a lot of people on here.
Can't tell you how many people have had a shocked look on their faces when using mine. Most thought it was buggered because it didn't read the velocities of their dreams or imaginations

What I don't understand is.... is it really that much better than a magneto speed for joe hunter who works up a load and pretty much sticks with it other than zero checks checking new components, the odd bit of long range practise?

Sure there is no change in impact and no fiddling if you shoot multiple guns in one session but other than that what does it have over a magneto?. does knowing downrange speeds and calculating bullet BC's make that much of a difference? I ditched my optical crony immediately once I got my magneto and it seems to do everything I need it to do at least at the fairly basic level I do it?

    Just interested to know

At the end of the day find your highest accuracy node before pressure becomes excessive and then just use your app to validate to true world conditions.
The only real use is for ES which is some thing for out past 500yds anyway.

No. I don't think they are worth the money if you are only doing what you describe.
I have one as I can test both pistol and rifle ammo in one session.
The accuracy is also a + but not saying it is more accurate than a magneto speed as testing has shown them to be similar.
Testing multiple calibers at a time is also a bonus and only having to change a few settings and not position is good as well.
I wouldn't own one if I only did a little bit of load development each year.

Have they taken a 50% hike recently? Only paid 1K for mine in May this year.

    Hi Team,

Here is a link to download Labradars quick setup instructions: https://mylabradar.com/download/

I use the labradar this way, and advise clients to use this way:
    - Set up using the most sensitive trigger setting initially.
    - Choose a freq that avoids local wifi freqs if that's a thing where you shoot.
    - Use full power mode.
    - Ensure it is pointed exactly at target. For open flat ranges this is not so critical. For ranges with surrounds (movign branches etc) or baffles, tall grass etc the alignment becomes critical. Positioned up off the ground is best initially. Ok to use on a low tripod if there are no obstructions in front of it.
    - Position so that the muzzzle or end of the suppressor is just rearward of the unit ( to the side obviously).
    - If triggering is intermittent I tend to just skip to Doppler trigger mode.
    - We have remote triggers available also. This is a proprietary microphone on a cord. Just plug in and position next to the muzzle. haven't had this not work yet. It is called an "archery trigger", available on our website.

In my experience with the latest firmware, if the inbuilt trigger isn't working, then I just skip to Doppler trigger mode and it works well.

    Cheers
    Joel

Agree. $1500 when we all purchased ours for $1000? Some one perhaps being a bit greedy?
One would think that NZ Ammunition were bringing them into the country !

Mine will be getting it's first test run on Wednesday, got a heap of rifle to get a better understanding of, looking forward to using it.

Got mine from Joel @ Stager Sport just recently, good pricing.

Hi Team, just a edit to that advice:

Here is a link to download Labradars quick setup instructions: https://mylabradar.com/download/

I use the labradar this way, and advise clients to use this way:
    - READ THE MANUAL. Read it a couple of times with the unit in hand and pay with the settings. Ideally with your favourite beer in hand, next to the fire.

Puss might be getting a little windfall soon that could help there.

The Doppler trigger isn’t recommended for just solving it not picking up shots - especially for rifles etc - it does reduce its precision
Really only for large slow projectiles
