Here's some facts:
In doppler mode I have noted a slightly decreased velocity readout, about 10-20fps lower than inbuilt trigger on a couple of rifles. On a couple of other rifles though, there was no meaningful velocity difference. I actually noted no meaningful difference in the max spread or SD between the two modes indicating the accuracy was the same. If there is a difference, it is very small and needs a large data set (alot of shots) to appear.
I'd say user results may vary on that, as there are alot of other external factors affecting the comparison.
So I think, if the user wants the finest possible precision, and is having issues triggering, then grab the external trigger mic.
