Something for the budget conscious chronograph user to consider (e.g. a light activated chrono like ProChrono etc). The chrono snobs will always tell you there's is more accurate than yours, and that yours will not work in bright sunny conditions etc.
Well, your cheap and cheerful chrono will work and it will be very accurate if you use a prismatic diffuser panel, which you can buy here (http://www.diffusers.co.nz/sites/def...-Catalogue.pdf, product code C1242M), and some black card secured to the sunshade guides. Like this. I secure the diffuser panel above the chrono with four adjustable tent poles and guy ropes. Can use it all day on the brightest hottest summer day.
Totally agree and I really agonised over getting the labradar instead. For the amount of load development I do it was hard enough to justify the V3 price but the confidence in it's accuracy (and not having the optical set up issues on range day) is totally worth it.
The method that seems to work for me is a 10 shot ladder test, pick the most likely nodes and shoot for groups. Then check the MV ES and SD after that.
If I've got speed data to look at when doing the groups it seems to cloud my judgement as to the most accurate group.
Guess it's hard to lose that more speed need.
So far there is .......2 .
Everything breaks. I have a mate with a v3 thats gone back.
I think mine may be a result of to many 338 brake blasts. If I dont get the positioning right it has always turned off with the blast.
Iv had a few of the cheaper optical chronys, aside from the ced 2 with IR screens and a way to controll the light I would rather use nothing at all.

Was intended to be an informative thread about a labradar warranty repair, but as with all forums the knitting group gossips have to have a little spotlight.

Bit of an update:
My radar has been repaired and should be on its way home shortly. Its taken a while but I made it very clear at the beginning I was in no hurry. The guy Iv been dealing with is the sole repairer and has had a hectic schedule so Im more than happy with the time frame. Communication has been very good, we had a chat about the cause and it has been covered by the warrenty.
A couple of points he raised , hes had quite a few units in for repair with overloads through the usb port so if your using an aftermarket power source then you'd better be sure its not spiking or suplying to much voltage. Also has had some with "handling issues" so look after them, they may not be that resistant to hard knocks. You will have to make up your own minds as to how that might fit with your personal approach. Iv asked Him about muzzle blast from larger cartridges, hes away at present so Ill post his reply when I get it.
The cost of the repair with freight would have been $215 AU.
The guys name is Dave Bilton and hes started an Aus labradar. Here LabRadar Australia – Australia's LabRadar Distributor . Should have a range of accessories etc.
So over all ,a good result, very good guy , excellent to deal with and really knows the product.

Informative. Glad I use the emloops more than I have a power bank.

Do what ya want! Ya will anyway.
.
Ok so Iv misinterpreted Daves "usb overload" as electrical when he was meaning mechanical .
Iv copied the relevant sectioin of his reply:
The load a mention is mechanical, the power pack connectors are small and it's easy for people to force them with the power able connector around the wrong way!
My suggestion for using a USB power pack (which I do) is to mount it using double sided sticky Velcro and then make sure there is no load on the cable to connection.
No issues with muze breaks, just make sure the barrel/break is behind the radar unit do blast doesn't "wash over" it, it's more to ensure you don't knock the unit over but blast can also create false triggers and can overload the microphone pick ups, as you have noted.
Cheers

So last instalment.
Iv had the unit for a couple of weeks now. Was well packaged and Dave included the replaced parts., looks like a mother board. I put some rim fire past it the day it arrived and all went well and had a chance to get to the range in the weekend. No issues at all with the labradar. Runs like it should.
So just to repcap. Top service, timely, great communication, great bloke to deal with. Hes selling the Labradar and all accessories from here LabRadar Australia – Australia's LabRadar Distributor definatly worth a call.

I wouldn't be without mine that's for sure - the app using your phone is the only way to go though!
Apps good that it loads all the data on to the phone/tablet so you can check it whenever as well. You did good @muzr257
