No worries, it was all culling work on the big stations. Flying along above stampeding panicked mobs of whatever, just hitting them with lead wherever. I've been looking for a book about it, or an old doco. The old fellas that I worked with didn't like the work, most of them were jackeroos so the culling for feral horses was particularly difficult. But it needed to be done as the feral mobs were totally out of control. There's a recognition that they didn't have the right weapons. We got flooded in on the border of QLD and NSW for a few days and lots and lots of stories were told in the pub, some of them were really quite sad, how they just flew and shot and didn't bother to check for wounded etc etc. I think some of the blokes feel really shit about that now, in their old age.
Its not much different these days, especially with camels, but there are minimum calibre restrictions in place which didn't used to be the case.

Camel, by the way, is delicious cooked right. The problem is getting to the back steaks through the hump. Messy work. And in spring / early summer you're black with flies.
Anyway back to the original question, I've just remembered that a year or so ago I bought 8 boxes of 500 Hornady Zombie Max in .223 which means I will probably never have to buy .223s again in my life. Bloody cheap they were.
Bloody interesting for sure mate.... thanks
