@Marty Henry, funny enough, my wife was of the same oppinion.
She said, I dont think its a good idea.
Are you really going to let someone use your rifle before you get to? And then went on to tell me, I should just go out and use it.
I was sure if I did, I was falling into a trap

your case capacity is somewhere around 60??? grains...so why would you piss around with sub whole grains for initial testing????
and a single round will tell you bugger all unless its way out of whack and blows things up NOT IDEAL.....
what Im saying in my crude unsubtle way is,you have 5 at 51.1 so do 3 x52 3x53 3x54 3x55 3x56 3x57 3x58 and go try them, starting lowest....somewhere in there will be a group or two groups if the reloading God is smiling on you together that look better accuracy wise...lets for arguments sake pick the 56 and 57 loads... the 58 starts to look hot....stop right there and go back and load up another 3 at 56.5 and try them......well what do you know??? sub inch ,below pressure signs....so good enough accuracy to fit the bill....not super hot pressure wise so safe on hot day,not barrel burning or case stretching..... job done, load found.....what about seating length??? you ask...well ASSUMING you set up dies to begin with off factory round...and assuming it fits in magazine well at that length...WHY BOTHER???? is more pertainent question.....

I still havn't fixed the range issue. Other than Whatawhata, all other ranges fall outside the Level 3 Waikato Boundary.
Previous conversation with the Whatawhata club suggested they are not set up for Sighting in rifles etc. Just competition shoots when the farm allows.

I started up some reloads a couple of weeks back using some once fired (not from this rifle) Hornady Brass, which I had full sized and rough trimmed, chamferred, and deburred. I dont have the right trimming tools right now.
Although brass size is within a couple of thou, I can't say they are consistently even.

As I was just going to look for the nodes where multiple load weights share similar velocities, I wasn't too sure how much the brass would hurt the data.

    I had loaded the following;
    5x 51.1 for verification
    1x 51.4
    1x 51.7
Not sure what my thought process was, because I then jumped up to the other end of the scale.
    1x 55.4
    1x 55.7
    1x 56.0
    1x 56.3
    1x 56.6
    1x 56.9
    1x 57.2
    1x 57.5
    1x 57.8
    1x 58.1

If anything, I figure the above will at least help with some initial barrel break in.
I think that you will find the rifle boringly accurate. Make sure to fire those loads on targets so you can see any abrupt changes in point of impact. You are on your way though just need the Covid to clear a bit like the Waikato fog on a sunny day. We are having out 4th consecutive day of wet here in HB so I won't be doing any testing for a bit.
    GPM.
