Yeah im gonna check shit out tonight or tomorrow.
That recipe gave me 1\2inch groups not that long ago Toby and i pulled an old one to make sure i had it right, im gonna put more weight behind there being something wrong with the gun right now.

are the cases definitely trimmed to the correct length??
No longer than 2.860"
Id have to go check but done them to the same length as the old load, 2nd lot were heaps better pressure wise just missing the old grouping
Those are still some pretty butty ejector marks on the brass. Accurate maybe, but looks like something is still wrong to me. Sometime low charges or short headspaced brass will show pressure signs but I don't think your in that camp.
Yeah sorry got my measurements confused case length max is 2.1" so your under.
Were the original loads developed in the rifle from new condition? Could be throat has roughened slightly from new. Do you have records of what speed loads were doing then vs now? Based on what you have responded with so far it all sounds like too much pressure to me i would load a test group a grain lighter again and see if that tightens things up.
How many rounds has the barrel had through it?
At a guess its had 300 to 400 rounds through it, rifle was fairly new when we tried these rounds in it, originally developed for a Kimber.
I havent chronied these latest attempts.
Looking at going down to a 67 gn load to see and maybe a change of powder to, reloder 17.
Have been thinking of making it a permanent long range rig so might re barrel it the same cal or something else.
my rl17 load with 168s is 66grains, some people bag on reloader 17 for being not stable in ranging temperatures but i havent had any problems as im not running on the upper edge of pressures
if there hot loads may be some brass flow in the necks , this will mean the neck wall is thicker therefore harder to chamber , another thing to check is copper fouling this will affect accuracy. high velocity loads will do that . cheers
Heard all types of temp issues with a lot of alliant powders.
Only ever suspected it to be an issue with RL-25 when I had a few velocity issues in my 06
I use RL-17 in my .260. It's by far the best powder I have tried in my rifle out of all sorts.
No temp problems and I doubt I will see any.
Americans see temp extremes that we never will.

Do what ya want! Ya will anyway.
Cheers PTK, i cleaned the rifle before hand with bore eliminator so it should of been free of any fouling. I think the neck trimming had a bit to do with the sticking as the second lot never had the same issue.
reloder 17 certainly reads good for this cal so i will try it at some stage.
I wonder how reloder 22 would go, i have some of that here.
Dumb question time
Are you measuring case length before or after sizing ?
