Thanks I'll put up a picture of the dies I have properly with the green case actually open this time. I'm not ploughing through the snow out to the shed tonight and anyway no lights in the shed.

    Greetings Happy Jack,
Semi retired, living on a small block and only 54. No wonder you picked Happy Jack. We moved onto our 8 ha block when I was 50. They are a lot of work but the returns are great, especially the farm kill meat. At 72 things seem a bit harder and a move into town will be needed in the future but please not yet. I would miss our block greatly.
    Regards Grandpamac.

If after braving the elements to get to your shed you confirm you only have a neck die in your set, I would highly recommend you get a FLS die. I see MD has already offered a loan. I've owned two 22/250s and found that, depending upon load, I had to full length size at between 3 to 5 firings.

Also if you only have a neck die no need to wind it down to touch the ram and 3/4 or whatever further. The neck die only needs to just kiss the ram, sometimes less.

From what I can see in the picture of your dies, you have a basic Lee kit, a full length resizer & a seating die. Does look like much of your problem is the seating depth. Check out, Gordons Reloading Tool for OAL and you can dial in the particular projectile, but every rifle the lands are different. You will be missing out on your rifles potential. The other guys will sort you out, show you how to find out where the lands are.

I think you're right. A very quick check (could be wrong) but Lee 2 die sets are as you say FLS and Seater..
Their neck sizing die is their collet die.

That spare depriming stem makes me think the sizing die is a collet die, and for my neck collet die it needs to be hard down on the shellholder and its the amount of pressure you put on the press that determines how much the neck gets sized (iirc they recommend 25lbs). So screwing the die out probably means you can't put enough pressure on to size the neck properly.
