    Mail order ammo process

Evening, just chasing info on how the mail order Ammo works namely through Belmont. Do you purchase online then do police form after the fact? Or do you need to complete police form first with what you want etc?

Hoping to get some here for the weekend as licence arrived today and I’ve got an itch…

Order online, generally the seller will email you a partially completed form with their info and what you have bought, print that off, fill rest in, take it down to the local fuzzies and have it witnessed/signed off. Then its a waiting game. I like to pester and ask seller to let me know when they get it so i dont feel like im in the dark too much.

I’m pretty sure you need a dealers license to order it now, courier companies don’t want anything to do with carrying ammo or powder.

You purchase, they send you a partially filled out form with all the details.
You fill out your portion with your details.
Take that form to your AO.
They sign it off in their leisure, can be same day or 3 weeks later, and email that to the seller.
    Seller sends you the ammo.

Thats whats I've done many times.
Belmont send out your order with their freight company

Not sure how comparable it’ll be to your region. Think it was 5 weeks from application to interviews then 2 weeks for licence to turn up even though issue date shows it was approved couple of days after interview.

@cambo and @keengunNic, do you guys hand in paper versions of ammo orders? I've only ever emailed them to AO, usually gets signed off same day. I buy 1000rds at a time.

I wouldn't have believed that until this morning - dropped off my 43a at the Chch Central AO and had it approved and processed in under two hours. First time I've experienced that!

@Ben Waimata yeah, ive only done it twice now i think, i do it that way because the seller usually fills in most of it so I just print it off and fill my stuff out. Im pretty bad on computers so editing that seems like itd be a nightmare for me haha

I was lucky when I purchased my Belmont ammo as a local gun shop who know me well (not that I spend to much time in there - not at all... ) was sympathetic and offered to receive the ammo through their store to save having to do the paperwork at no charge .
That said not sure if you would get away with that nowadays .

Yeah I know some guys order minimum of 10,000 rds, but I'm a conservative! (or maybe I shoot straighter than them ).
