    Moly for barrel?

My Tikka 6.5PRC coppers up quick. It's not too bad to remove but I have some KG moly barrel treatment and see it is scrubbed in with a brush and then left to set.

Has anyone tried this? Does it help reduce copper fouling and how long does a treatment last?

I don't believe it will work that well. I had a 7mm Rem Mag that copper fouled like crazy. I tried all sorts of moly barrel treatments and projectile coatings to no avail. It was very accurate, but the copper was terrible. I have used David Tubbs Final Finish bore polishing system with good results.

If it doesn’t impact on your accuracy then I wouldn’t necessarily strip it out. Try sweets solvent or just leave hoppes in permanently

My trueflite 7mm mag barrel copper fouled like crazy, after a few hundred rounds it had settled down.

What about using hBN to dress both bullets and barrel , I bought some and never used it . Using hBN , allegedly improved extreme spread and extra velocity could be achieved . Unfortunately , the accuracy nodes remained the same but required more powder to achieve them . Waffle aside , perhaps its lubricant properties would be of benefit when using monolithic bullets . It's also claimed to help prevent copper fouling and has a much higher resistance to temperature than moly .
Perhaps, someone has experience of using it on here .

Not heard of it - accuracy is about 0.4-0.5MOA and velocity is 3130fps with 143gn eldx so top notch. SD is 4-5fps. It might be easier to get it sighted in with the copper in place and then carbon clean it. It wouldn't be shot a lot after that, only at animals from time to time.

I can't give you more than I've read and watched regarding its use . Apparently , it's available as an aerosol which can be sprayed down the barrel and a powder which is applied to the bullets by tumbling .

Hexagonal Boron Nitride , not 100% on the spellings.

    Nice load

No problem Sweets shifts copper better than most more expensive solutions, just don't leave it in the barrel for very long,
Use a Nylon bristle brrush Sweets eats Bronze brushes and gives a false blue trace, A good scrubbing with JB compound or Auto Sol
will help smooth the barrel out, my Sako 6.5x55 took a while to settle down
The problem with Moly bore paste it can trap moisture under the coating and cause corrosion

Ive got a moly tumbler and some moly if you want to try it mate. Increase load by 0.2gr.

But people say it can trap moisture. I never had a problem with this, and accuracy never changed.

    Great advise here ^^^
Auto Sol is a better choice than JB in my opinion. Just don't come out past the muzzle end if using a cloth wrapped around a smaller brush, rumours are that it could wear the crown a little.
