Thread: Most destructive 223 varmint projectile ?

    Ouch, that's a shame for that American Eagle ammo.

    Best destructive round I ever shot was Sierra 52gr HP, as it must've hit a shoulder bone/joint or something solid, the rabbit just disappeared like in a cartoon. Plover the same. Alas I can't repeat the shot 100% of the time, so it's just VMax for me.

    a few years back a friend was bequeathed a barnard 308 target rifle. were were loading 40 gr jhp projectiles into teflon sabots and then using it to shoot rabbits and hares at long distance. unfortunately our chrono only went to 5000 fps and we were over that.
    all i can say is it turns rabbits inside out in a hurry

    A question for the blokes getting the misfires. What trigger are you using? I have discovered that my Timney that I brought to solve all my trigger dramas has the worlds lightest hammer strike and misfires all the time...
