Re altering the pin / dies. The Lee Universal ( that I have at least) uses a thick pin for Large primer brass, if you run SRP brass you need to thin the pin down or put up with enlarging the flash hole as MR Lee's die goes punching through the case base and pushing the primer hole larger.
Yes it has made the unit weaker but its the only practical solution I have short of buying another style of die. I'm not hung up on it, but just wanted to point out why.
