Oil will kill primers quicker than water, but take more clean up. I've popped out many a primer from military ammo if I'm unsure how good they might be, same with some brass I'd pulled the bullets from. The uncrimped cartridges were very easy to pop the primers from, I reused them quite happily in same range ammo, the crimped in military stuff a bit sterner & I had a few that the deprimer pin went thru but none that went bang. Even so, I had safety specs, a leather apron that I had when I carted hay, on & leather gloves, with another one bunched up by the die ram primer slot which seemed reasonable precautions. I can't guarantee if you try this one won't go bang so on your head etc. I was using a Lee depriming die & being as gentle as possible

Really tight bullets can be made easier to pull by seating them a tiny bit deeper, I was pulling some .303 Tracers which were laquered into the neck, worried about stretching the case or pulling the neck off, a run through a seater to seat them a mm or so deeper & they then pulled really easily, using a Pacific/Hornady type puller
