Need 6.5 Creedmore load for Tikka rifle

Team, a mate has just acquired a Tikka T3 in 6.5 Creedmore so I've looked through the search engine on the forum but can't find anything for the calibre and rifle to help get him started.

If anyone is reloading for the same rifle / calibre could you kindly share your reloading data?

Naturally any loads will be worked up safely.

    Thanks in advance

Should be checked using a gauge for your own rifle...and for each projectile.

I can fit 73mm for any projectile as the Mag is the limiting factor... or hand feed to 74.5mm the high BC rounds in my Sabatti.

And I like my coffee like my wife... strong, off white, sweet, gentle on the palet, and kicks like a mule if I don't get my act together...

    What brass?
    Mine
    Lapua SR
    140 ELDM
    Tikka T3
    CCI450
    ADI2209

    COAL 73.50mm
    Charge 42.40

This is over book max, but the COAL is quite long so it's still under max. Please check your COAL for your rifle.

If you shooting this projectile and powder in a 22inch Tikka, your accuracy node should be around 2660-2680fps.
I would not recommend going over 2730fps with this bullet, powder and barrel length.

I have a Tikka T3x and the throat is quite long and the magazine is M+ so you can seat the bullets well out. This drops the pressure so with my particular Tikka I can load in more powder and get quite decent velocities. Also, 6.5 Tikka barrels have a reputation for being on the slow side.

My normal hunting load which is around .50 MOA is 44.6 grs 2209 with the 143gr ELD-X in Lapua brass, CCI 450 primer (well over book max) but perfectly safe and certainly not hot in my particular rifle. This chronographs at 2,780 fps. in my 24" barrel. Can get a lot higher velocities with moderate pressure using RE 16 and particularly RE 26. However, there is not much point in doing so.

I also use this rifle for competition hunter class events and use the 140 ELD-M in Peterson brass at around 2,620 fps for under .50 MOA and reduced recoil and barrel erosion, particularly so with the sustained fire rate of five shots in five minutes.

    @10-Ring that’s great info!

Have you tried any 120 gr loads as I’m thinking of something flatter & faster for his rifle.

    For reference, published max is 40gr of AR2209/H4350 under a 140gr AMAX/ELD-M.

41.5gr seems to be a sweetheart load with that pill that you'll find online. And people on here are obviously getting away with going much, much hotter than that. Suggests that the published data is very conservative.

But still... I hope you're planning on doing something resembling a workup rather than simply cloning someone else's load and going for broke

Unless you want to reach a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way out.... like when you use a 20MOA rail, the full16 Mils on your scope and still need to hold 9.5 mills more... and the target is just visible in the bottom of the scope.

I've tried various 120gr bullets with a few different powders in my Tikka and it doesn't particularly like them, although around .7-.8 MOA. I would've preferred to use them on japs and fallow and leave the 143gr ELD-X for reds. However, they'd be worth a try in your mate's rifle as it may like them.
