The good thing to come out of this is the new 24 cal projectiles that will be come available I will be sticking to the 6mmBR and 6mm Rem
and maybe a 6mm Creedmoor rebarrel on something
I don't see a down side to tikka, remmy, ruger etc having 7.5 twist barrels to start with
only a 7.5 twist will over spin the lighter projectiles. Had that happen in a 243ackley, anything under 75grn just turned to a grey cloud 10m out!
oh and my savage with 1:9 does just fine with the Brians 105's and amaxes.
I see, maybe they could do faSt and slow twist like 223s
Does anyone know if howa are bringing in the 6mm arc into nz yet? Looks like it will be a great light weight build with very similar velocity and energy out to 300 yard as the .243.
Does seem to be a design to replace the 5.56mm
But its kind of still a varmint thing no?
More of a medium sized game cartridge. Its factory offerings come in 108gr ELDM and 103gr eldx.
1:8" twist is plenty. Like the grendel its perfect for our game in NZ.
The holdup on the howa mini release is actually ammo availability. Hornady have dropped the ball with this new offering.
Personally I'd be going a bit more wildcat and chambering my own 1:7" twist barrel in 6mm grendel (6mmAR) or 6mm turbo to use all of the little russian case's potential. I understand Hornady moved the sholder back for patent purposes but they should have moved it forward or changed the angle slightly to get more bang bang

Now that the 6GT has SAAMI approval, we might see a few factory production rifles available in this caliber. It’s likely to be more appealing than the 6ARC as you get a bit more bang-bang for your money.
I went googling for the first time since this cartridge was released and now understand why Hornady limited the case capacity on the ARC. It was to reduce pressure for the AR platform.
This cartridge and its blown out wildcat cousins would have far more potential in a bolt gun.
