Ok , just polished 7 cases and gave the inside of neck a rub with a rag on a screwdriver... followed instructions on lube can and lubed inside of the die and hosed down cases (aerosol lube) including inside the neck with a light squirt and ran them thru the press.
Nothing got stuck in the die and to my untrained eye they look okay.
Was going to do more but thought it might be a good idea to get someone who knows what to look for re cockups
before I do any more so I don't potentially ruin any more brass.... But it looks to me like so far so good.

'Famous last words' ring about that last sentence tho….

Chamber the sized brass to make sure it fits next then carry on.
I learned from utube vids and only do basic loading. Neck sizing or bump sizing cases might be an improvement though I just FL size and chuck brass after 4-6 loads.

Reading instructions watching you tube is fine but the best training for anything is being shown by some one who is competent and confident.
It will turn night into day.
But if you methodically work your way through which it seems you are doing you will produce good safe reloads.

Chambered one and the bolt closed but it did need a wee bit of pressure to close. Ejected and inspected case and the case mouth was slightly pinched.
So stood that case and one other next to an unfired round and it appears that the resized cases are a tad longer so will need trimming.
Have some dial calipers so measured sized cases. They are between 2.720 and 2.724 except for one which is 2.715. After a quick Google it sounds like the spec is 2.714 so I guess that explains the pinched mouth.
So definitely need trimming then...

Another consideration is whether 338LM is enough gun for the job.

Also I find applying the daily palm to be more satisfactory than Saturday night fingers

There's some pretty big rabbits round our way and I'd hate for one to hop away wounded. Pretty safe in the knowledge that when they explode that they are probably not going anywhere....

Definitely need trimming! Imagine the extra pressure if you fired a shot and the case didn’t want to let go of the projectile...

Yep , you are right. In my defense several people have said to chamber a resized case to see how they fit , but I should really have measured them first to check and I should know better....my bad.
That said have done some more searching this morning and apparently max case length is 2.724 so those resized cases don't appear to be exceeding that measurement , so why is the case mouth pinched ?
I would have thought they should just squeak in....
The rifle is a Hardy's built rem700 action with Hardy carbon barrel.

lee make a really simple and easy tool to do the case length and trim job...really really easy when you use cordless drill...you do three jobs at once...well 4 if you count measure.... it trims case to length if its too long...then you remove that tool and debur inside and out side while still in drill...can even get all flash and use poly pad to polish up brass if feel like it.

Already run it back through the die so can't do a pic. All I can say is that it went in the rifle round and came out with a couple of small flat spots around edge of case mouth. Visually obvious that a projectile would no longer go in.
I will dig rifle out of safe and try another case.

maybe just measure a case before you resize it to make sure your not stretching it. and just check its not putting a flat spot in the neck when ejecting the case some rifles will do that

Sounds stupid but can ding them going in sans projectile.

Ok , so just dug around in the resized rounds and found one at near enough spec length around 2.714/5 and one long one at around 2.724/5....




So that's the long one....and this is the short/soec one...
