All Lapua brass I have used thru LA cases to short .0002 CHE is a good indication to back off a bit. Most factory loads will get .0003 CHE
Need a decent mic not calipers to get accurate readings. I ran my 6.5-06 on .0003 for ages after initial firing on new brass and it just stayed there over 6-7 loads.

Hard to get a micrometer to measure .0001 when most can claim an accuracy of .0002 but is should only be used as a guide

You want a new rifle, you wouldnt have asked the question if you didnt, better to sell or keep 308 and just buy another 7rem mag

nothing else in that list will get you out as far with as little effort.

rebarreling the 308 will over capatalise it which ever way you go. so you can kiss money good bye if you do it.

    a 7 rem and a 308 complement eachother well.

162amaxes are a hard bullet to beat at range

280AI has the same capacity as 7mSAUM so in a 24" tube you should get 3K with the 162 amax with a 1:9 twist and RL17, 2800 approx with the 180's. Close to Rem Mag speeds without the bulk of the case, May bee 100fps slower.

Sneeze has a .280 AI and I have a .260AI. It is my first AI so dont have too much to say about it yet. Was going to do a wee write up onthe .260AI in a couple weeks.
