Was it Hugh that told you it was low recoil???

If yes, then he's even more full of shit than I thought.

It's a mean case/cal, accurate and pushes the 208's at decent speed. But you are definitely going to want a brake and/or can because the recoil in a sporter weight rifle is substantial.

Having a heavy barrel at either 24/26' made so all is good, he know's his stuff and has done some good work for me before

200 odd grains at 3000 odd fps in a sensibly weighted sporting hunting rifle will beat you up without a decent brake.....

Maybe if you build it with a straight contour barrel and lead filled stock then the recoil would be 'low on recoil'

Yeah you've described a R8 rather well there.

Haha eat a dick, or something like that.
@Alonzo will tell you it's a sweet calibre. His blaser in 300 blaser mag is a laser. Was stacking them on top of each other at 700 and hitting brads gongs with athourity.

Its very nice, but I wouldn't say it was "low on recoil"

Mind you I guess it depends whether you compare the recoil to a 223 or 50BMG

I run 230gr Berger Tacticals out of mine on AR2217 and I'm getting about 2890fps. I accidentally brought mine (barrel came in a package deal) and I've not looked back. Had it at the range the other day and tested it with supressor, brake and nothing. You'll want either a supressor or a brake. I shoot tighter groups using a Terminator brake.

Iv got a Blaser R8 in 6.5 x55 and 300 Blaser mag , I really rate the cartridge - 208 grn amax at 3030, and like Alonzos it's a tackdriver but is not fun shooting it without a can or brake - it is a 300 magnum after all.

Roughly the same , if I was building a 300 magnum I would go for a 300 win mag as its a common chambering and you have a range of good brass and dies at reasonable prices to choose from

Yes but just like the 30-06 it has an extremely poor rep here...in the US.... well that's another story...

The 300 Win mag will be slightly behind the 300 Blaser, 30-375R, 30 Nosler.
