Thread: The original WTF bullet? Wow.

First projectile I ever loaded was the Norma .303 soft point semi pointed boat tail. These were, I believe, soft steel jacketed and cupro nickel plated. They cost $10.50 for a box of 100 and my friend thought I was nuts for paying that much. At the time Speer projectiles were $6.00 per hundred. Later 30 calibre 180 grain similar projectiles were loaded. From memory at this time, mid 70's, Norma offered a dual core, steel jacketed, cupro nickel plated projectile with a yellow plastic tip. I had some that did not have the plastic tip. Memory fails me on what it was called. The more things change the more they stay the same.

I think it was called plastic point at the time. I also used some flat point 180 grain .30 cal which were later called Alaska.

I remember the alaskans.... as you say to some degree its reinventing of the wheel....
