Playing with alternative loads in the 7saum

To stop me buying and intermediate rifle for example 708 between the .223 and 7saum and potentially free up me being able to sell my .223 iv started playing with lighter pills over powder that I have lots of and things are looking good so far 140 sgk and 150 eldx over 2213sc are a kitten to shoot and deadly accurate might be rifle consolidation time for me. Are many other people downloading what they already have? Il start sharing data once iv played a little more.

7 Saum rifles work with 2208/2209 and 140 NBT and Accubonds at 7mm08 velocity’s

Not SAUM, but when I built my 280ai I started with 2213SC. Speeds were never that quick around 2850fps (from memory) with 150gn Swift Scirroccos, but super tight wee groups. Keep this as my shoot n spook load and use N560 to drive 162 AMAX at 2980fps for longer range stuff.

Il also add my main reason is preserving my main components for the big hills I shoot a fair amount of fallow annually at work that don’t need 168gns of lead thrown at 2950fps with flash harry powders burnt. That’s good to no about the 2208 . I’m certainly not chasing velocity the same as you I’m finding it very accurate the .223 is brilliant I use it to nuke heads and it does it well but it’s not the best guide rifle with poorly placed shots and I don’t want to buy another rifle for part time guiding the .223 suites me better but down loading the saum might see it out the door . Open thread not exclusively for Saums

I would go for a starting load of a slow powder like 2217 to keep the case fill up. Worked very well in 270 using 2217

I have a nice mild paced 7saum load I worked out for saving my amax and hard to get powder.

I got some rl19 and sierra 150 spbt, speed of about 2800-2900 from memory but accurate, I'm sure it'll work on most game animals and gets the saum out of the cupboard for more hunting

Tried out some 140grn BTs in the 284 yesterday but they are running out and have a bunch of Speer 130gr to try next under Belmont 760 for a nice Smaller deer load.

I fondled mine yesterday and felt guilty for the lack of use
