    26" 1-8 barrel 53.5 gr adi2217 magnum lr primer hornady 2506 brass im pretty unscientific with oal i do the same for all my rifles except my mil 6.5x55s i just start a projectile in the case then chamber it in the rifle close bolt then remove round put in press with seating die wound out wind down so it touches projectile lower ram wind seater down half a turn reseat bullet and keep dummy round for setting up die in future so i dont go off measurements seems to work in my rifles

    Good as , I had to do exactly the same method with a new for me 1640 Husky this morning, 30 06 @ 3.340" Coal wouldn't chamber though it would fit the mag, just, so wound in 1/4 till it did chamber @3.272 then blacked it chambered again, no marks so loaded for development.

    @grandpamac.
    yes in my post above I found hornady book max for H4831- ADI 2213 was 49 something. this was simply seated in new Norma 25 06 brass with no other prep
    When I tried in june last year down south I went as far as 55grn as even 51 grns was only giving me 2600 and I had 2830 with fed match 210 and 2865 with a cci magnum primer, @ the 55grns
    however these same loads in January with F/L sized brass using the Redding dies i ended up with 2912 wityh 55grns and 2970 with 55.6 and a huge ejector mark, somewhat stiff bolt lift and a very flat primer and only about an inch group, previously good 1/2 inch at 2830 as above
    So, I have plenty of H4831 to go back to but acquired 2 tubs of H1000 and thought I'd give that a crack starting at a medium load and working up.
    @Tentman
    If your about and it's not too much trouble could you run H1000 for me please, 26 Inch barrel, 140gr amax
    Thanks.
    I'm away till Monday but will have a look then. cheers

    If the 6.5 in the 06 case behaves like the 6.5/284 then RL22, 2209 and 2213 are your top 3 powders. In the 284 case most blokes are shooting above book max loads. Me included.

    Yip, some ejector marks on the brass but primer ok and bolt lift ok, Norma brass so a bit soft, half a grain less was an average of 2934 bit more of an Es but that could be neck tension
    I'll run the same cases for a few reloads and see how many I'm getting before the primers fall out then if nesseccary back off a bit, maybe take it to 57.2/3

    Jeez there is some shite on the net re this round, I wouldn't like to go much further but some claim well in to the 3-3100 for this powder out of shorter barrels, gotta be a load of crap.
