    Powder of choice for 18" 308 with 125gr - 155gr projectiles?

My Kimber 308 is getting an 18" barrel chop so a suppressor isn't to unweildly. Haven't started any load development yet but probably want to try either the 125gr BT or 155gr Amax as an allround varmint to fallow deer load. Greg Duley seems to be getting great velocity from H335 powder in short barrels - Any others worth trying with this combination?
The other question is brass - I can use Winchester 308 which has about the largest case capacity for readily available brass meaning I might be able to stuff some more powder in or go with Lapua & get great brass life but maybe not quite the same velocity. In a short barrel this may be a moot point Anybody used 110gr Vmax's on anything - looks like the BC of a trash can but maybe a fun splat load on rabbits out to 200yd's for shits n giggles.

Id say you would get best velocity with the lapua regardless of internal volume due to nice hard head brass., that is unless using somethin a bit slow like 2208 that you struggle to get in enough for the light projectiles.

Just use the H335. It is velocity king in a short barrel 308. 2206H is a good powder but won't get you the same velocity if speed is important.

Should you even give a shit what the speed is when you've pushing a brick sideways though the air to a distance of 200m?
110 Vmax and 125 BTs have the BC of a turd
I'd have to dig my data out for what the 125s were going out of Lapua brass in my 308, but they were moving.
Were pretty fast out of the RUM too

2206h with 150s(2800fps) and 165s(2700fps), Winchester brass in a Tikka t3 with 18 inch barrel.

    Don't bother with 110s, 150s make a good splat!

I am running the 130 TTSX out of a 15" barrel at 3000fps, the ballistics are not to bad to 400m. On the other hand a 150 corelokt at 2800 is alot worse. When the BC is shit you make up for it with speed.

For what its worth barrel length has little to do with which powder will give best veocity.Chamber /projectile set the parameters.
