My two favourite projectiles have been 107 tmk's and 100gr nosler bt's.

Dabbled with heavier. But even with a longer barrel, the BC of 123 and 130 elds didn't make up for the much lower muzzle velocities. And the useful range ended up being about the same with light & fast vs heavy & slow.

The new eld-vt's look like they might be worth a try for wallabies and goats. Nice blend of velocity and BC. But I have a heap of those tnts to burn through first.

    Try ar2219 or bm2 for 90-107gr. Bm2 or 8208 for 107-123gr. 8208 or 2206h for 123gr-130gr.

[QUOTE=liam_s;1671024]@robhughes-games ; your velocities give me hope. Thought I may have chopped it short. Will give the gold dots a go. It sprays sst’s. wasn’t happy with the results from factory loaded sst

Thanks for starting this thread as am due to start reloading for mine also, now that there’s less demands on time and heading into the quiet months.
Have a 12.5” and will be starting with 120gn Sierra’s/ELD-M’s and 8208. FYI, don’t discount the SST’s as my 260 sprayed factory Hornady 129gn SST’s but handloaded was a completely different.

    Cheers Phil.
So you just use the same load of factory powder with no re-weighing? I would have thought 7.62 would use faster powder?

Also I have re-formed some Lapua 7.62x39 into 6.5G and it needs fire forming to properly fill out yet the steel cases seem to have taken shape withyout this step... Interesting.

I'm getting 2600fps with the 100grain eld-vt loaded long, with 25.5grains ar2207 in my 16 inch howa mini. Could definitely get more speed using a different powder but have a 1kg
    To use up

Prior to this was using factory PPU 123 soft points, chronod them @ 2350fps. Killed plenty of deer with them out to 250m none of them went far...
