Again I’m ok for primers. I just feel for the guys who are not. And perhaps walk away from the hobby. It’s pretty rough at there man.

Ha ha funny guy, good luck with asking people to walk away from hunting just so you can buy cheap primers in 3 years time.

I want to put food on the table for my family and I won't let an extra $10 for primers stop me however you are welcome to do whatever floats your boat.

I mean this all in the nicest possible way so please don't take offence and please feel free to give up hunting for 3 years if you want to as its your choice however I will continue and I will enjoy ever minute of it.

I don’t cheat , I use a bow and a muzzle loader for hunting. Way more fun. It’s so easy with a scope ya just give the meat away.

And don’t take offence to this, but that’s just the same attitude as the gun ban - helping screw over the rest of the enthusiasts again in the country again.

It doesn’t effect me so I don’t care.

I looked at importing primers together with my projectile importing venture, i have a source for primers (not sure how reliable) but ill have to ask nearly $400 per 1000 once they are in NZ. and i don't like that so ill park that for now

The amount of primers backordered is astronomical, I reckon we will get primers again but will then face a power shortage as thats only getting more difficult to get here

US Election next year, so stock up when you can. Depends who you talk to in US $75 per 1000 is what I was quoted.

They are still out there, keep your ear to the ground and be decisive as they go fast.

I have always kept plenty on hand as I normally shoot 200 rounds a week (mixture pistol and rifle). Bit more picky what I shoot now, shooting a lot more rimfire but even that is pricy now.

Keep a open mind, sometimes loaded ammo is cheaper than the components.

I think a lot of people fail to factor in the time, fuel and effort taken for reloading.

Especially if you have to make a pilgrimage just to find components.

    Then load development.

Sometimes buying factory saves you money, especially if you sell the brass on (general rule of value is 1 packet of 20 factory rounds= 5 packs of 20, once fired brass).

Thats all good if the factory stuff shoots well in your riffle or you can find heavy projectiles in factory loads.

Most people that reload either want super accurate ammo or do so because they can't get the weight of projectile they are looking for in a factory load.

Yeah I am aware of that, I reload too.

    And have plenty of consumables.

But someone buying all the gear (eg. Area 419 press, AMP Annealer, AutoTrickler V4) just to replicate Hornady or other factory ammo is pointless.

Some spend so much time at the loading bench and doing 'load development' that they barely get out.

I know for some that reloading is a hobby in itself, but I see it as a means to an end, not an end in itself.

Like saying talking about sex is more enjoyable than doing it. Nothing more satisfying than a beast going down to your own rollie.

Maybe if I cast the bullets, drew the case from a brass rod (or did some complex case forming), made the primer from a cap gun and strike-anywhere matches (now banned) and synthesised the powder from bat guano.

Saying ' I make my own ammo! ' with store bought components isn't quite the same achievement.

In fact, I'm very surprised that reloading is still permitted by the nanny state.

Plenty have displayed the aptitude to fuck up despite the plethora of 'how to's' that exist.

You need to factor in inflation, especially if they have been stored for 12 months or longer.

    Listening to the "reloaders podcast"
They are based in the USA. Primer availability is low there, so I assume that it will be a while before supply increases here.
