yeah thats not ideal on the speeds a. im sure you will be working on it. I get frustrated at times with mean groups and speed variation . i was doing some loads on my 260 rem. had a consistant 1/4 inch with es around 30. then had 3/4 inch groups doing es of 7 with 5 shots on both. if i had a range on my door step it would not be a pain. but thats a work in progress as well as the load.

Wow thats a massive spread! What are you using to measure your speeds?

Magnetospeedv3 - jaco goosen was the one to check the speeds last for me. Jaco, can you possibly verify the speeds? I might of been a bit high and low. But yeah... defiantly inconsistent. The load was "developed" by the guy I purchased the rifle off. He said, it's was the first load he tried and grouped well out to 500 so he left it as is.

Well that should be reasonably accurate....reason I asked is optical chronys like my shooting chrony can be affected by lighting conditions....I have had mine change nearly 100fps with going from bright sun to a black cloud passing over.

Try jumping them, you have nothing to lose and might be pleasantly surprised. Euro target-shooters start them anywhere from 1.5mm off the lands, progressing as you normally would

You need to allow .05" jump to get those 143gn to really shine. Just my opinion. But its actually been the subject of some interesting tests.

Some other things to try before you abandon that load. Get your brass induction annealed. Try both mag and LR primers. Maybe even check the runout on the finished ammo. The load you're trying is exactly what i wanted to try in my swede but i could never get either of those components.

Probably need to figure out why that load shot so well in the old barrel so that you can tweak it accordingly. How did you develop it? Loaded some different charge weights and shot some groups? New barrel probably won't like the same charge weight. Nailed the seating depth last time? New chamber might like the bullet closer or further away. No need to write off those components yet.
