This is what I use. I love this thing. Really speeds up priming,m performs consistently and retains good feel for when the primers bottom out in the pocket.
However, I've never attempted to trim a hedge with one of these. I'll study the instructions again just in case I missed that first time round but personally, I think it might be shit for yard work.

Has anyone tried the Smart Reloader priming tool?

    https://smartreloader.com/en/product...s-shellholder/

    Or the Lee Ram Prime?

    https://leeprecision.com/ram-prime

    Both are very inexpensive.

ram Prime works well but is painfully slow and fiddly as you put one primer in at a time
plus, you have to handle your primers which isn't great for a couple of reasons

I do like the Lee ones. The only thing I don't like with the lee is the need for another special shell holder
I have a Lyman one that takes a standard press shell holder and doesn't do the job any better than the Lee but it's just handy not having to buy (and keep track of) yet another shell holder

That puts me off big time.

You have to use Lyman shell holders with it. I know it says you can use any but I've been down this road.

I ended up returning mine as well because I would have to buy several Lyman shell holders. RCBS universal would be a good one to try out.

The green piece slips into the black piece so it doesn’t hold well trays not in the handle like a lot of the others

Same problem so I modified mine on the weekend. Cut the head off a flat head nail with hacksaw and super glued onto the bottom of the primer rod in the large primer tray and it pushes up another 2mm now. Sorted.

Can you confirm it worked with the Lyman holders? Get she’ll holders isn’t out of the question for me as the unit seems sturdy I have the rcbs universal it’s junk the primer tray flys out everytime it’s not held in like the other hand primers it simply slips in the front then the piece it slips into cracks and it won’t hold the tray

Yeah the supplier used the Lyman shell holder to demonstrate that it definitely wasn't faulty. I didn't want to buy a bunch of them so returned it anyway.

That's a shame about the rcbs one.
