That is a fucking rip off.....Unfortunately if you didn't future proof your supplies you are at the mercy of the gougers out there

$75 a thousand here in Perth, I got 1500 a few days ago, ADI powder is $135 a kilo.

Some people are getting a bit desperate and some are getting a bit greedy.
I have bought LR primers over the counter twice last month, paid a bit more than what I was paying 7 years ago but nothing silly.

Some things sell faster with a high price then they do with a low price. While there is a genuine decrease in availability of components, it is being exacerbated by some people applying the 'greater fool theory'.

just about everyone i know barely shoots centrefire anymore unless it is to zero. I sure wish I stocked up back in the good old days

As far as primers go, that's sadly not far off what some would have paid in-store recently. I bought some federal large rifle Magnum primers a few of months ago and they were about $20 per 100, I believe they have gone up again since then.

Subscribe to reloader supplies as the send out emails with gear as it comes in $180 I think for 1000 that was a while ago but you don't know , I see on TM someone is selling 500 it's about the as the 1000 from reloader supplies.

I saw on TM the other day 3x 100 sleeves of Winchester Large Rifle Magnum primers went for $122 Thats 40 c each!
thats what I pay for projectiles!!

I saw in Reloaders 1000 pack of primers averaging $200. Got a shock when I saw CCI standard .22 500 packs go from $65 to $99 at Gun City.

To be fair you won't find them cheaper anywhere else that is what theyvare retaling for now

There is a way to defeat the gougers - don't buy from them.

We, in NZ, had it too good for a while.
We didn't need to carry sufficient amounts of components because we could always buy more at fair prices.
We were wrong.

I reload for my son & I, somewhere between 3000 & 4500 rounds per year.
I've always tried to have at least one year's stock of components on the shelf.
Buying larger quantities allowed negotiations on price.

Is that hoarding, or being prudent?

Iv got 500 195bergers that I bought as a 500 pack the rifles yet to be finished that’ll allow for load D plus my life of hunting as it’s a secondary rifle I have 1kg of powder for that rifle and 500 215 primers . I have 150 of my other rifles projectile which is a few years of hunting and powder/primers to suit id only run into problems if I changed calibre so all the more reason to stick with what I have. the 168 vld that I have 150 of is available at the moment but I’m sure il be able to find a box in 3 years time when I need one il leave those box’s on the shelf for those who have 15 projectiles left . Hoarding/skelping and back orders are killing our community. @Cyclops I don’t consider that as hoarding because you have a time frame in mind for the supplies you purchase

I would say prudent, I shoot similar amounts and try to buy what I can when I can. I also help my mates out when they run out. I wont sell it to them but give it to them on a replace it like for like when you can arrangement.
