Got up to 56gr in mine, seated long though which makes a difference. 19" barrel broke 2900 settled on 2750 though, the 2900 was an "oh sh#$" moment

I am going to load my 284 with 2209 as I have a good supply and figure with the 19" bbl I can still generate good speeds. Anyone else on here using 2209?good results?

52 gains 2209 with 160 tmks doing 2810fps out of a 22 inch barrel. Any more and accuracy drops off.

Use 2209 for bush loads with 145gn or 154 gn pills. Around 53 - 54 gns 2209 gave best/safe results in my 284s. You'd need to back off load a bit for 160 - 162 gn pills I'm guessing

Quick load data I posted was at factory lenght and seating well out for a longer action will make quite a bit of difference.

My experience with 2209, is that it is a bit slower, but super temp stable and always easy to find an accurate load for.

RL16 would be worth a look as well meant to be more temp stable than 17.

h414/win760 gives good velocity and consistency

You got yours up and running yet.
I have a few 154 SST if you want to try them.

2209 will be fine if you want to use the 150 gamekings but RL17 is the fruit with 162elds. A little under 54gns with a CBTO of 2.525" is a sweet load for my rig...Naturally work up and you may also have to neck turn if you have the tighter chamber...Good luck its a sweet caliber

Thanks to all. Brilliant info! I'm having a 25.5inch barrel put on a sako 75 action. I'll post my results.

Pills/loads I’ve mentioned are seated way longer than SAAMI. To get best out of 284 u want them hanging way out there..... COL 3.00 to 3.175. Assuming your chamber throat will allow

Very impressed guys, these things are wild. I found a 6.5x284 case from when I had a Savage F class. Shot a 6" 3 shot group at 1100m with that thing. Rolled the case around in my hand a bit and noted how awesome it is and how odd it is we don't use them much. Quite surprised by these 162 Amax velocities from such short barrels. You have a very short handy rifle capable of knocking stuff over way out there. Very cool.
