Photos were asked for, so here they are. I have it in my hands now, just have to sell another rifle to pay for it before it’s officially mine. Then it’ll be a matter of finding a period correct scope.

More meplat, more better.
L461..good grief that's like new. I used one of my mates while my own .222 was being rebarreld ,very nice rifle's indeed they were and still are.
I could have bought one with a scope..new when with the Forest Service but turned it down at the time.
They were supplied with a 4x Lupy on top. Still regret it to this day.
[QUOTE=Seventenths;831193]In that case I have two vixens... an L461 & an A1
They are both L461 Vixens.
"A1" is only an action length designation.
Tanqueray, your rifle is beautiful.
Here is a a wild Sako Vixen with it's natural prey.
Just finished loading up some .222 for a BSA Majestic too.
I run 55gr Sierra HPBT's over BM2 in my LSA 55
The bonded 55 grain Norma Oryx has performed very well in my 223 under a load of ADI BM2 which can also be loaded in a 222. The one projectile I have recovered had mushroomed very well as the front of the Oryx is very soft and yet had great penetration. The recovered pill weighs 53 grains. I load these in three 223s, five 22-250s and a 220 Swift and they group very well at 100m in all of them. You could buy a box of Norma factory ammo just to try them.
Tech
I got some brass to reload which included some LC 78 brass. They are much longer than standard brass and have a super long neck like a swan. Thought I was imaging things when I picked them up to start depriming.
LC 78 is 223 brass made in the Lake City plant near Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sounds like it was resized to 222 Rem and not trimmed. I make 222 Rem brass from 223 a lot and that is how they look until they get trimmed to the proper length.
I've got an old battered vixen .222, its shoots well with 50-55 gr pretty much anything, I don't take it deer stalking, very often any more, but have shot hundreds of deer with Normer and Sako 53-55gr ammo, I got supplies to reload, but keep getting given, a few boxes of ammo, from old timer's, so haven't needed to yet.
Took a bad fall in the Rauhine's, with the rifle 30 years back, beat myself up pretty bad, and broke rifle stock, chipped scope etc, patched up stock, and ordered a new one, rifle didn't shoot well with new stock, so back in old and carried on,
Tanqueray, that is one very nice Vixen!
All you need for it is a set of old rings & a Leupold 4x scope & your away as that’s what’s on my old L461 & it works a treat!
I notice in your photos the rifle is missing part of the rear sight... by any chance do you have that or need one?
I have a rear sight that was given to me so I’ll have a hunt for it!
As for the scope, it was a fixed 4x Leupold which I think was the M8 & not common to see for sale but their good optics.
Look on Trade Me for the rings as they come up quite often.
