2206H is giving good accuracy and speed in my Tikka, 43.5 grs with the 165 gr SST gives 2740 fps out of the 20 inch barrel.
In my rifle 2208 was a little slower but good accuracy.
Greetings,
I chronographed 44 grains of AR2208 with the 150 grain in my 20" barrel .308 a while back. It produced 2,550 fps. Book max is 47 grains. I was comparing several different powders and 44 grains of AR2206H gave 2,670 fps and IMR4064 2,650 fps. I recently chronographed 45 grains of AR2208 with the 150 grain in a 24" barrel which produced 2,760 fps.
Regards Grandpamac.
My 18” 308 fires 150 ballistic tips at 2750 with 46 gns of 2208/varget. Load was done by @7mmsaum
Using Harveys Ist edition. He notes about 28k with 45gr. Prepped 100 cases. Going for looksee next month on down side of FM. Picked up some 4064 so that is another option. My son's mate does not shoot a lot of rounds. The deer he gets are huge. Big fat grass eaters. Thanks.
Greetings,
IMR4064 was my go to powder for my .308 from 1979. Initially 47 grains of IMR4064 (max in the Speer No 9 manual) with 150 grain Norma projectiles and cases was worked up to later chronographed at 2,890 fps. 47.5 grains produced 2,890 fps all in a 22" barrel. This matches well with the current Hodgdons book max of 47.7 grains of IMR4064 with the 150 grain Nosler BT in a 24" barrel. Remington 150 grain corelokt factory recently chronographed 2,850 in a 24" barrel. Obviously the .308 has been a favourite of mine for a very long time.
Regards Grandpamac.
