    RL17 contaminated?

Loading some bombs for a mate, he supplied me with some RL17 that he brought of TM.
When I put the powder in my auto charge I noticed differently coloured pieces of powder in amongst it.
I looked at RL23 and RL26 that I have here and the powder colour is uniform Grey/black.
Check out the photos and see what ya reckon.

I've used many different powders over the years and have never noticed different coloured granules as shown in your image. I'm not qualified to make a definitive statement but in my opinion the powder looks a bit dodgy.

Iv seen it but am no help because I can’t remember what powder it was I’m sure it was adi maybe 2206h as that’s all iv used in the past few years if it was Alliant it would have being ro26 for the same reason I used it but it looks like that batch has a lot more than what I was seeing

Yep i'd hazard a guess someone has accidentally put a different powder back into the wrong bottle, likely realized the mistake, and ditched it on TM.

Was it a new container of powder or had it been opened?

It could be that the change is due to it being oxidised when left in a hopper, and now it has mixed with the rst of the powder.
ADI BM8208 has multi coloured granules from new.
I wouldnt be using that powder if you dont trust the source.

I’ve gotten through quite a bit of RL17 have never seen any colour variation. I wouldn’t risk using that stuff.

Actually I remember now it was 2225 and I didn’t use it . It was sitting in my powder thrower when I upgraded when I emptied the thrower months latter it was like that!

Picked up 100 projectiles in an auction marked 150 Gr and on checking a few for weight half are 165 Gr. Buying powder or projectiles in opened containers can be a disaster waiting to happen.

Yep. I have a near new bottle of RL17 and in moment of stupidity I dumped some 2209 in while pulling apart some loads. One day I'll get round to picking it out.
