When you switch to Lapua that'll change everything so you'll need to start your reloading all over.

My go to 7mm projectile is the 140SGK, it is very effective on any game. I load for the 7-08, 7x57, 7mm RM, and a few years back for the 280. It seems to work for me with speeds anywhere between 2600 - 3100. Accuracy is way more important than speed, keep on trying a few different loads but the SGK and the SST should be all you need.

I have read sgk and sst can be a bit explosive when they hit bone.
So far ive only shot fallow and they are not very robust.

While accuracy is very important speed is important to. If your speeds are to slow you may as well go to a smaller caliber. No good running a 180 gr in a 300 magnum at 2800 fps when a 30 06 will do the same. It is nice to see those tight, slightly enlarged groups but at the end of the day around the one inch group is more than adequate. A one inch group at 100 yards is still a 6 inch group at 600 yards, which is probably further than most can shoot animals at anyway. Try and experiment so you get both speed and good accuracy that way you will have a really good load for everything.

Yeah i could probably fiddle with my 44gr load and get it moa, but then my brass wont last as long and the throat of my rifle wont last as long etc.
there is no such thing as a free lunch and you pay a price for short easy carrying rifle.
    According to the 1000 ftpd
Thing 2500 fps should get me 300 m and if i want to shoot further then that (never have)ill be taking the win mag.
Though i dont like to carry that thing much further then the boot to the bench haha.
    Cheers

Ive had good results with sst and speer 145s.
    Eldx 150 not so much.
I did think of 2208 to try getting eldx shooting because i really like that bc and speed was good 2650ish but shit groups.
What's the twist rate in your sauer?

I've found a good mild load with the 162 eld m for the Mrs tikka 7-08. 19" barrel 9.5 twist, just loading them to function in the mag and I've got it to 2500 fps, two in one hole and the 3rd shot just off to the side, easily sub MOA at 100 and that's just from initial development. Should still have 1000ftlb out to 700 yards (not that it'll ever be shot that far)

Since when, does 1.5 MOA not, kill deer sized animals out to 300?

    1-9.5 twist same as t3 i believe.
I would be happy with that speed in a 162 eldx,
I would be happy with that speed in a sub moa 150 also

Nothing wrong with 1.5 moa for deer hunting at all.

2208 is the powder I'm using, if you don't have any joy with 2206h give that a try

Mate is shooting the 150 eldx in his 7-08 (17"barrel I think) and he's around 2650fps, not 100% on what powder he's using but very accurate at that speed too.
